Great turnout for maidenhead boundary walk 2024
This year’s Maidenhead Boundary Walk was a resounding success: 549 walkers raised an impressive £22,538 for over 58 charities.
The Rotary Clubs of Maidenhead Bridge and Maidenhead Rotary, along with volunteer support from Maidenhead Rotaract, The Civic Society and GoodGym, organised the event, which drew participants from across the community, from different age groups, to take part in this historic 13-mile tradition of "beating the bounds." There were school groups, sports clubs, families, friend groups. The organisers did a magnificent job, it was a successful and fun day.
56 volunteers contributed 167¼ hours of their time to make the event a success, manning checkpoints, stewarding road crossings, and ensuring the smooth running of the event. ‘ADS’ volunteers John Groom, Lyn Senior, Lola and Maddy cheered walkers along and helped with signposting and manning the stand. We’d like to thank them for donating their time to help.
We would like to thank all these organisations and volunteers. Additional thanks goes to ADS members who supported this event. We had a number of members participating on the day. Amongst others Lydia Fox and her son Andrew Fox, who very much enjoyed themselves while raising over £200 for ‘ADS’. After completing the course Lydia and Andrew popped by the the stand to say hi and declared proudly that she had not walked this much in years and that is was beautiful around Raymill Island. The weather was with us on the day.
This year’s event proceeds, expected to reach over £2,000, will go to Alzheimers Dementia Support, the nominated charity for 2024.
