Our focus goes to ensuring that the funds we raise go directly to supporting our Members and raising Dementia Awareness. We provide practical guidance and services to those affected by Dementia and their Carers, aiming to bring joy and support to their lives.

While we do have a small office and a Charity Shop on the High Street in Maidenhead, our team is often out in the Community with our Members. Our Charity covers the area of Windsor, Maidenhead, Ascot, Slough, Langley and surroundings.

Multi-lingual Service ADVISOR

Hours:         circa 20 hours pw

Main purpose of job:

To manage and deliver Dementia Services and Advice on behalf of Alzheimers Dementia Support ‘ADS’.

Scope of job:

To support, within our selected region, people with Dementia, their Carers and families through the design and delivery of services and advice. To generate awareness of Dementia through attendance at events, meetings and interface with partner agencies

Duties and key responsibilities:

1.           Work closely with the Senior Dementia Advisor to ensure the effective and coordinated program of sessions, including services, awareness, advice and home visits

2.           Build awareness across the community through the creation of networks and the attendance at community groups within Slough and Langley as well as partner agencies

3.           Maximise attendance at services through awareness and targeted marketing

4.           Recommend, create and deliver new opportunities, locations and activities.

5.           Assess and organise volunteers to ensure that the service is safely and adequately supported.

6.           Complete detailed records and logs of all service attendees and weekly activities, including full details on SalesForce

7.           Participate in wider Charity events and awareness campaigns

8.           Deputise for colleagues when requested

9.           Identify and support fundraising opportunities and activities

Personal Specification

The applicant should be fluent in the following languages.

Fluent in spoken and written

-        English

-        Urdu

-        Punjabi

-        Hindu

In addition, the applicant should have a proven ability:

  • to organise self and others.

  • Experience of efficient record keeping and the management of confidential, personal files.

  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.

  • Good time management skills.

  • Experience of cooperating with staff, volunteers and being an integral part of the ‘team’.

  • Experience of developing and adhering to costs and budgets.

  • Basic IT skills including Word and Excel.

Preferable, but not essential additional skills include:

  • Experience of working in an Advisor role within a People with Dementia Support environment.

  • Knowledge of Dementia through Training or Caring.

  • Experience of establishing, rotating, monitoring and continually adding to, a range of people-focused activities.

  • Experience of managing the learning and development of others.

  • Full, clean driving license and own vehicle.

An added bonus would be:

  • Certificate Care Appropriate Courses.

  • First Aid certificate.

  • Knowledge of Council organisation and processes.

  • Additional Languages.
