David originally hails from Stirling in Scotland but spent much of his extensive career, in Corporate Retail, working throughout the UK and abroad.
Prior to moving to Italy in 2000, David operated his own UK national multiple operations with retail outlets in most large conurbations. Following his departure from Italy, David lived in Norway for a few years and only returned to the UK in 2007 when he and his wife, settled in Berkshire. Since then he has dedicated much of his time to supporting People with Dementia and their Carers.
JOHN MACFARLANE

John has spent most of his working life selling and marketing products used by the Printing and Publishing industry.
Employed by large corporations John rose to the ranks of European General Management and his career saw him and his family spending time in Ireland and Benelux. John has lived locally for 35 years and cared for his mother, who had Alzheimer’s disease, passing the last 4 years of her life in care. John has volunteered with ‘ADS’ for over 10 years and now wishes to concentrate all of his volunteering effort on helping ‘ADS’ to continue providing local high quality, valued support Services for those with Dementia and their Families who care for them.
FRANK KNOWLES

Frank had a distinguished 32 years career in the Professional Fire Services serving around the UK and for her Majesty’s government at the Home Office. After retirement he formed a business in fire and safety consultancy advising persons on specialised safety issues including building safety, means of escape, fire fighting and rescue.
He has been involved in Charity fundraising and “hands on” humanitarian efforts throughout the UK and overseas for more than 3 decades. His goal as a Volunteer Director and Trustee of ‘ADS’ is to bring his unique skills to support the amazing work of our Operational Team and the dedicated band of hard working volunteers to provide the best Services we can.
DAVID COPPINGER
Volunteer Director and Trustee
David joins ‘ADS’ with experience across both industry and local government. His career in the UK food business covered many facets from equipping over a 1000 delivery vans with sales computer systems to building a profitable business selling English bread and muffins to European retailers.
Living in Holyport, David became a Parish Councillor, then Chairman of Bray Council. He later became a Borough Councillor taking Cabinet responsibility for several areas including Adult Services which included all aspects of Dementia. Additionally, he was a Director of Optalis which provides such services to RBWM and Wokingham Councils.
Having decided not to stand again, he wanted to maintain his interest in this area and knowing the work of ‘ADS’ he felt he could give positive support to both the team and the customers.
